Most Valuable Lesson or Insight:

The most valuable lesson from this conversation is that entrepreneurship is not just about making money—it’s about creating meaningful, sustainable growth while staying true to your values. Jasmine emphasizes the importance of having a clear "why" behind your business, which drives you to overcome challenges and build something impactful. For women in business, this often means prioritizing purpose, community, and long-term success over short-term profits. Jasmine’s approach to consulting focuses on integrating systems and processes that align with a business’s core values, ensuring sustainable growth and a positive impact on both the business owner and their clients.

Top 5 "Between the Lines" Lessons:

  1. Your "why" is your foundation: Entrepreneurship is not just about financial success; it’s about creating something meaningful and aligned with your values.

  2. Failure is part of the journey: Every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace challenges as stepping stones to success.

  3. Community and support are essential: Building a network of like-minded individuals, especially other women in business, can provide invaluable guidance and encouragement.

  4. Systems and processes are key to scaling: Sustainable growth requires strategic planning, integrated systems, and a focus on long-term goals.

  5. Adaptability is crucial: Entrepreneurship is a journey of constant evolution. Be prepared to pivot, reassess, and adjust your strategies as you grow.

5 Actionable Steps:

  1. Define your "why": Reflect on the purpose behind your business and let that guide your decisions and strategies.

  2. Build a supportive network: Connect with other entrepreneurs, especially women, to share experiences, advice, and encouragement.

  3. Invest in systems and processes: Focus on creating integrated systems that support sustainable growth and improve customer experience.

  4. Embrace failure as a learning tool: Analyze setbacks, learn from them, and use those lessons to improve and grow.

  5. Plan for long-term growth: Develop a roadmap for your business that aligns with your values and goals, and revisit it regularly to stay on track.

Welcome to Business Chats! Today, we’re going to be talking with Jazmyn. She has a consultancy agency and has been in business for the last two years. I’m really curious to see how she’s been doing.Jazmyn:
Hi!Host:
Hi, Jazmyn! Hopefully, Meta and Instagram will allow us to connect faster today.Jazmyn:
I’m here!Host:
I’m really excited to hear about your business journey, especially as a woman. Let’s see if we can make this work.Jazmyn:
I keep accepting your request to join, but it says I can’t.Host:
It’s a whole thing. Maybe Mercury is retrograde. Let’s try again.Jazmyn:
There you are! Hi!Host:
Hi! How are you?Jazmyn:
I’m good. How are you?Host:
I’m great. Thank you so much for joining me.Jazmyn:
For sure! I’m just muting my computer so you don’t get any surprises.Host:
This thing with Instagram happens every single time. So annoying. Anyway, welcome to Business Chats!Jazmyn:
Thank you for having me. I’m excited to share and maybe learn something too.Host:
I’m sure we’re going to learn a lot from you. First, can you tell us the name of your agency and what exactly you do?Jazmyn:
Yes! My name is Jazmyn Lopez, and my entrepreneurial consulting studio is called Anell. There’s a fun story behind that name we might get to later. What we do is enable small business growth, primarily through systems integration. We work with clients to organize and restructure leadership, sales, operations, and marketing functions to create the best possible customer experience.Host:
Systems and processes are the foundation of every business. How long have you been in business?Jazmyn:
We’re coming up on the two-year mark. I filed the paperwork before I started doing it seriously, so technically, it’s over two years, but actively, we’re coming up on two years.Host:
That’s amazing! When’s the anniversary?Jazmyn:
March.Host:
Oh, that’s so cool. Mine is in May. I’m going to turn five, I think.Jazmyn:
Five years? That’s awesome.Host:
It’s kind of brave to register your business before you started. I didn’t even believe I could do this until maybe a year and a half in. How did you come to the conclusion that you needed to register your business?Jazmyn:
I was still working in a full-time corporate role at the time and had a little extra cash. I knew this was the direction I was heading in, so I prepared to have that organized upfront. I had always dabbled in freelance stuff throughout my career and in college, but I knew to be serious, I needed to have the paperwork done.Host:
That gut feeling—you need to trust it. It’s like, “I’m just going to do this,” and it’s exactly what you need to do.Jazmyn:
Exactly. Not too long after, I was part of a layoff, and I was like, “I have this filed for a reason. I’m going to take it and do something with it.”Host:
That’s wild. You tested the field a little bit as a freelancer before jumping in.Jazmyn:
Yes, but what I was able to do with Anell was capitalize on a decade of corporate experience and bring that to the small business audience to help them scale to bigger levels.Host:
That’s powerful. I think businesses created by women care more about the end result and the client. It’s not all about money.Jazmyn:
Exactly. I could go back to Corporate America and make money, but the problem was that my effort, value, and ideas were diminished in that setting. It was preventing me from doing authentically valuable and meaningful work.Host:
It’s not good for your brain or your karma. It’s nice to know you’re changing people’s lives by changing their businesses.Jazmyn:
As Latina female business owners, the generational wealth thing is not a joke. I’ll be damned if it’s for nothing.Host:
I feel exactly the same way. Being an immigrant and knowing you’re alone in a new country—it’s terrifying.Jazmyn:
At Anell, we say everything is “For Better or For Growth.” Every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and prepare for the next level of growth.Host:
Did you have any support when you were creating your business?Jazmyn:
I have really good friends who have dabbled in entrepreneurship or have family who are entrepreneurs. I also joined networks and built a community.Host:
It’s very important to have that support. Entrepreneurship is a fast track to testing yourself.Jazmyn:
It’s terrifying no matter how you slice it, but it’s about your “why.” If you’re starting a business just to make more money, don’t do it.Host:
Exactly. Can you tell me more about your process with clients?Jazmyn:
I work well with entrepreneurs who have been in business for a while. I help them integrate systems to scale from a six-figure business to a seven-figure business.Host:
That’s amazing. How can people find you?Jazmyn:
The best place is Instagram. We’re intentionally growing our social media following. You can also visit our website at www.mean.com or email hello@mean.com.Host:
Thank you so much for joining me today. This was amazing.Jazmyn:
Thank you for having me. Bye!
